RC-AirSim is a radio controlled model aircraft flight simulator that is being developed by Fabricated Reality Software. You can use it to learn how to fly a radio controlled model aircraft. The simulation can be flown using your keyboard, joystick, controller (Xbox 360), or radio transmitter with an interface cable.
You may download the Demo Version for free. Upgrading to the Registered Version costs $8.95.
Quotes from RC-AirSim users:
“Last weekend I went along to my local RC club with a trainer that I have just built. I have never flown RC before but I have spent hours on the RC-AirSim demo version trainer. I went to the airfield on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, by 5pm on Sunday I was taking off and landing and doing nice controlled circuits. Several of the other there refused to believe I was a novice and everyone remarked on the speed of progress I have made. I even impressed my self...” – RC-AirSim v1.0 user
“Excellent flight dynamics! I have been playing with [a different flight simulator] for over a year and I like it very much. It looks pretty but its flight dynamics have left much to be desired. RC-AirSim is even at this step of development a much more serious simulation. … Well done and keep up the good work!” – RC-AirSim v1.0 Beta user
“Great Flight Sim! ... I must say I was really impressed with this simulator, for it's size and simplicity, it's great! I was using [a different flight simulator], and it never felt right, it was missing the critical differences between full scale aircraft and RC. RC-AirSim has everything that's missing. A little thing called accuracy, like in the flight characteristics! ... Thanks for a great simulator!” – RC-AirSim v1.0 Beta user

RC-AirSim has a flight dynamics engine that is more detailed than some other R/C flight sims. The flight dynamics engine uses a full complement of 31 Stability Coefficients, and 4 (rather than 3 found in other sims) Mass Moments of Inertia. What does this mean to you? This means that RC-AirSim will simulate an actual model aircraft more realistically than a simplified or game engine based flight simulator.
RC-AirSim is under continuous development. See the RC-AirSim Development Status page for the latest news!
RC-AirSim is being developed and programmed by an aerospace engineer / model aircraft pilot.

Radio Transmitter Interface Cables and Joysticks
To have the most realistic R/C aircraft flight experience you need a joystick that simulates your radio transmitter. There are a number of options available.
Any interface cable that allows your transmitter to function as a standard Windows game port or USB joystick will work with RC-AirSim:
RC-Electronics JSIM Transmitter Interface Cables (External Hyperlink)
MileHighWings USB Transmitter Interface Cable (External Hyperlink)
SimBlaster Transmitter Interface Cables (External Hyperlink)
Build a transmitter style joystick. (External Hyperlink)
